What is Community Supported Agriculture?

By purchasing a CSA share you are committing to support Chandler Pond Farm for an 18 week period during the growing season (June-Sept.). In return you will receive:

  • A variety of organically grown fresh vegetables each week
  • Savings of 10-15% off retail prices
  • A connection to the land and the people that grow your food
  • A chance to help out on the farm doing a variety of tasks (optional)
  • A source of food that has a low environmental impact
  • A sense of community with your fellow shareholders

The environmental, economic, and health benefits gained through a CSA share at Chander Pond Farm are numerous both for the individual shareholders and the community as a whole.

Vegetable Shares

This season we will be able to offer up to 30 CSA shares. First come, first serve.

Full Share - $495 ($85 off retail prices) *Includes a large basket of in-season herbs and veggies each week. This will approximately feed a family of four or an individual or couple interested in freezing or canning any excess.

Regular Share - $345 ($50 off retail) *Includes a smaller basket of in-season herbs and veggies each week. This should satisfy an individual or couple.

ADD-ONS- Meat, Eggs, & Season Extension

(available only with the purchase of a vegetable share)

Spring Add-On - $40 (10% off retail)*Includes 4 weeks of the earliest greens that we offer from mid-May to mid-June before the regular CSA season kicks off.

Chicken Add-On - $90 (10% off retail)*Includes one pasture-raised broiler, freshly processed, bagged, and frozen available every other week (9 weeks total).

Egg Add-On - $58 (10% off retail)*Includes a dozen eggs each week (for 18 weeks) from laying hens pastured on the farm.

Fall Add-On - $120 (10% off retail)*Continue picking up fall greens, root crops, squash, potatoes, and brassicas for an additional six weeks (through mid November)

When and where do I pick up my share?

Shares will be available for 18 weeks, from June 15th to October 12th. This year we are offering two locations from which to pick up your CSA share: directly off the farm or in the parking lot of the St. Johnsbury Co-op. Shares will be available at either location every Wednesday between 3:00 and 6:00 PM. Pick-ups are also possible in Waterford and Newark/E. Haven (just off of Rt 114) if there are enough shares. Spring and Fall Add-ons will only be available for pick-up on the farm. Note: The first share of the season (June 15th) will only be available for pick-up at the farm in Wheelock. On this day we will be hosting an Open Farm where you can come out to the farm and meet the people that grow your food as well as the other shareholders. Also you will be able to see the animals and crops as well as participate in scenic hay-ride tours of the farmland.

Come Help Out on the Farm

Many hands make light work. There are always a number of jobs, big and small, that need tending to throughout the season. CSA members are welcome to arrange a time as often as they like to come to the farm and help out. Scheduling will be arranged on a case by case basis.
